TOPIC: QLD Tandem Community

QLD Tandem Community 09 Jul 2012 18:03 #40

Hello, is there anybody out there??

I'm an experienced pilot (happy to crunch out 90-100 kms a road trip, or 20kms on bike paths around town, as long as the bike is in good working order. I've just moved from the ACT where I piloted for Hartley Lifecare, and we all know how popular cycling is in the ACT!!

Looking for a stoker who has their own, or access to, a large tandem.

Are you, or someone you know looking for a riding partner, then contact me via this website.
Regards
Jon.

At last, I have found a Tandem for hire in Brisbane. So now just looking for a stoker. The shop will hire it to us for $75.00 a day, or $40.00 for a half day. The bike is largely adjustable so don't worry about size, all you need is an Australian Standards approved helmet, the rest we can work out later.

Sick of being stuck indoors, want feel the wind in your face and the sun on your back?

So who's up for a ride around Brissy?

Just post a reply and we can work out the details.

Hi Jon, why don't you try vision Australia to see if they can put you in touch with any of their clients who may be active and up for a ride.
Also one of my Brumby tandems is in Fairfield and could be made available for hire for that sort of activity for $40/day. Give me a call if that is of interest. Peter 0427200533

Thanks Peter, email sent during the week. Funny how sometimes you miss the obvious. Thanks for the offer to hire your bike, I'll keep that up my sleeve.

Now the next logistic issue to solve is transporting the tandem. I'd prefer not to remove wheels and place inside the car, from previous experience, I'll end up getting grease on the upholstery. Ideally I want to get a tandem roof rack, big fan of the Thule swivel mount, but these are about $680 new.

Does anyone have a second hand one lying around they'd be interested in selling? I know Yamika make one however I've never seen one close up and I think they're about the same price.

Re tandem roof rack carrier. I've got a prototype made up and hope to have a "one man load" tandem roof mount carrier available later in the year for about $200. I'll post info about it on this site as soon as it is available.

Now that would be a niche market clincher! I'm kind of surprised someone like Grip Sport hasn't come up with one. I guess its do with the overall popularity of Tandems in general.
